NEW CANAAN — A 36-year-old Wilton man was charged with drunk driving after he allegedly began backing up while on Ferris Hill Road.
According to police, an officer saw Gregory Moroney, of Wild Duck Road, backing up his car in the road and crossing the double-yellow line while doing so. The officer spoke with Moroney and smelled alcohol on his breath. Moroney failed a subsequent field sobriety test.
The Wilton man was charged with unsafe backing and driving under the influence. Police said he submitted to a test of his blood alcohol content, which was .207 at the time, almost three times the legal limit of .08.
Moroney posted a $250 cash bond and will appear in court Feb. 21.
