Traffic stop results in drug charges

NEW CANAAN — A 29-year-old Stamford man is facing drug charges after being pulled over for a defective brake light, police said.

On Jan. 15 at 9:34 p.m., an officer on patrol observed a vehicle traveling southbound on Ponus Ridge Road with a defective brake light.

After pulling over the driver, identified as Cory Carswell, a motor vehicle search was conducted. As a result of the subsequent investigation, Carswell was issued a misdemeanor summons for possession of less than half an ounce of marijuana, defective brake light, failure to maintain proper insurance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
