NEW CANAAN — Police said local resident Kevin McDermott not only was driving under the influence, he was drinking while driving.
Police received a report March 1 about a possibly-intoxicated man sitting in a car in the Bank of America parking lot. When officers arrived, McDermott, 63, of River Road, was trying to back out of a parking space. They said there was a odor of alcohol on his breath and an open bottle of vodka in the center console.
McDermott failed field sobriety tests and was charged with driving under the influence and drinking while driving. He was released after posting a $250 bond and is scheduled to appear in court March 15.
