NEW CANAAN — A 29-year-old Stamford man was charged with driving under the influence after being pulled over for having a broken headlight.
An officer pulled over Matthew Epple, of Cove Road, on Oct. 10 around 1:30 a.m. after spotting him driving down New Norwalk Road with a broken headlight. The officer spoke with Epple and smelled alcohol coming from his breath. The officer searched the car and had Epple perform a field sobriety test, which he failed.
Epple was charged with driving under the influence, having the improper number of headlights and failure to carry registration. He took a blood alcohol content test, which showed his BAC was .15, almost two times the legal limit of .08. He was released after posting a $250 bond and given a court date of Oct. 26.
