NEW CANAAN — A Wallingford man is again facing charges for stealing luxury watches from his former employer.
Pierce J. Shortell, 31, was charged with first-degree larceny Monday, after turning himself in at police headquarters on an active warrant.
Shortell was originally arrested July 14, 2017, for stealing $150,000 worth of Rolex watches from Manfredi Jewels, 72 Elm St., where he had worked since the previous summer. The investigation continued after Shortell’s arrest, and police uncovered a completely different set of Rolex watches for which invoices had been falsified. Some of those watches were found being sold on eBay.
According to police, the thefts and the discrepancies coincided with when Shortell began working at the jewelry store in June 2016 and stopped at the same time that he resigned in June 2017.
Police said they are still continuing with their investigation.
Shortell was released on a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in state Superior Court April 9.
