Mothers, daughters gather for tea and fashion

More than 215 mothers and daughters from the New Canaan chapter of National Charity League gathered for their annual tea March 2 at Wee Burn Country Club in Darien.

The guests saw a spring fashion show and were given a basket of gifts. New Canaan businesses, She La La, 120 Main St., and Vineyard Vines, 67 Elm St., participated in the event.

NCL President Liz DeAmbrosio opened the event and introduced the event's cochairmen, Jennifer Skyrm and Irene Hall. Skyrm cited the importance of volunteerism of NCL.

Vineyard Vines began as a tie business on Martha's Vineyard by brothers Ian and Shep Murray, and now has 30 retail stores, 600 specialty, boutique and department stores nationwide.

Owned by Sheila and David Grow, of New Canaan, She La La's boutique offers affordable jewelry, accessories and gifts for the home representing designers not widely sold in the area. The boutique donated a raffle basket filled with jewelry, gifts and women's accessories.

Several mothers and daughters strolled down the stage in a fashion show, which featured Vineyard Vines clothing for men, women and children and accessories from She La La.
