Greenwich man charged with intent to sell marijuana

NEW CANAAN — A 20-year-old Greenwich man was hit with drug-related charges after a New Canaan officer found a glass jar of marijuana in his car, police said.

On Oct. 17 around 9 p.m., an officer pulled over Jack Portu, of The Avenue, for having a broken tail light. While speaking with the Greenwich man, the officer saw a glass jar of marijuana in the center console of the car. According to police, the jar contained over three ounces of marijuana. A digital scale was also found in the car.

Police charged Portu with possession of a controlled substance, use and possession of drug paraphernalia and possession with intent to sell. He posted a $5,000 bond and was given a Oct. 31 court date.
