The Gaspee Days parade showcases hundreds of colonial fife and drum players in a celebration of the burning of the British revenue schooner, HMS Gaspee, by Rhode Island patriots in 1772. After the parade, a Colonial Muster will pit selected units against each other to test their colonial music chops. A 5K road race will kick off the party, running through Warwick in anticipation of the day’s celebrations.

The annual Blessing of the Fleet Road Race kicks things off with nearly 4,000 runners trekking 10 miles through the historic town, followed the Blessing of the Fleet on July 30. Vessels put on a colorful parade for thousands of spectators, each blessed by a distinguished clergyman and judged for prizes. On both days the Seafood Festival hosts more than 30,000 people local seafood delights and plenty of dancing to work off those newly acquired calories.
