Three Horizons students receive scholarships

Three students from Horizons Student Enrichment Program will attend St. Luke's School and New Canaan Country School next year.

The scholarship awards recently were announced at the Horizons board of directors meeting.

Hadiah Price-Tucker, a Norwalk resident and student at Nathan Hale School, is the Stevens Prize recipient and will enter St. Luke's School as a freshman in the fall. The Stevens Prize grants a four-year scholarship to St. Luck's School annually to an outstanding Horizons graduate. It is the result of collaborative effort between St. Luke's School and Horizons at NCCS and is named in honor of NCCS' late headmaster, George Stevens, who founded Horizons in 1963.

Jeffrey Ramirez, also a Norwalk resident, attends Ponus Middle School. He is a NCCS Horizons scholar and will enter New Canaan Country School as an eighth-grader in the fall.

Jonathan Jean-Louis, also a NCCS Horizons scholar, and will attend NCCS as an eighth-grader. A Stamford resident, he attends Scofield Magnet Middle School.

Horizons serves approximately 400 children from low-income families in the Stamford and Norwalk area with its academic summer program, year-round high school program and Saturday winter program.
