Area residents who have suffered a stroke are invited to Norwalk Hospital's monthly Stroke Support Group, which meets on the second Thursday of the month from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m.
The group is also open to families, caregivers and friends of stroke survivors.
According to the National Stroke Association, stroke is a leading cause of adult long-term disability.
Norwalk Hospital's Stroke Support Group offers an open discussion on navigating life after stroke for both new and seasoned stroke survivors.
"The recovery journey can be scary and cause a lot of emotional and physical stress as the survivor adjusts to life at home and work," Mary Galasinski, clinical stroke coordinator, who will facilitate the group, said. "Our support group allows participants to share their challenges and triumphs in a caring environment."
