Simpson, a member of the league, has more than 30 years experience as a landscape architect in the area. His slide presentation ranged from his origins in the Yorkshire dales of northern England and the lakeside gardens of Switzerland to New Canaan projects and university campuses in New England.
He illustrated the challenges varying landscapes offer in the implementation of their design. Certain of those had special interest for him by virtue of their unusual beauty, complexity or other characteristics.
The league's next event is the Victorian Valentine Tea at Waveny House Wednesday, Feb. 5.
