The new officers of the Senior Men's Club of New Canaan are Brian Hollstein, president, and Dave Conrod and Kevin McMahon, vice presidents.
They were elected at the organization's annual meeting May 9 at the Country Club of New Canaan. Also elected as directors for three-year terms were Jim Cole and Chani Sra.
Hollstein and his wife, Catherine, have been New Canaan resident for the past 36 years. Previously a vice president of the senior men's club and chairman of its Mystery Book Group, he has also been active in St. Mark's Church as a member of vestry, clerk of vestry and manager of the Gospel Garden.
He manages Brian Hollstein & Associates specializing in providing investigations and security management consulting for attorneys and companies. He is a published author and frequent lecturer on protecting proprietary information and using quality tools to manage the security function.
Conrod is a retired technology entrepreneur who has started, operated and sold multiple companies providing hardware, software and data-processing services to commercial banks throughout the U.S. and internationally. He is active with Service Corps of Retired Executives providing counseling and other services, and is a class agent and section agent for his alma maters, Bowdoin and Harvard Business School. He and his wife, Catherine, moved to New Canaan five years ago after 37 years in Chappaqua, N.Y.
McMahon is a patent attorney. Prior to his private practice, he was a partner with several law firms specializing in patent litigation and counseling for corporate clients. He and his wife, Ellen, moved to New Canaan four years ago. In his spare time, he is involved in tutoring and mentoring high school students in Future 5, a Stamford-based nonprofit. He recently joined the board for Getabout Inc.
Cole served as chairman of the Police Commission and fills several roles in the New Canaan Office of Emergency Management. Previously, he served as emergency management director and chairman of the Fire Commission. He has been a member of the senior men's club since 2003.
Sra, a retired executive of mining companies, has lived in New Canaan since 1991 and has been a member of senior men's club since 2006 and serves on the luncheon committee. Sra is a volunteer with the IRS providing tax assistance for low-income families and with Citizens Democracy Corps.
Objectives of the Senior Men's Club are to enjoy conversations in a non-political, non-commercial and non-soliciting environment; to enable members to help each other enjoy life more fully; and to provide a forum to acquaint members with community activities and services.
Weekly meetings feature both a "coffee and danish" men's social session and speakers. Other activities include golf, tennis, investment discussions, cooking, luncheons, photography and travel with spouses to activities in the region.
About 400 club members span a variety of professional, academic, legal, medical, entrepreneurial and public service backgrounds and have a long history of providing civic contributions.
Applications for membership are welcome; prospective members are invited to attend meetings on most Friday mornings at 10 a.m. at Morrill Hall, St. Mark's Church.
