The New Canaan Outback, in conjunction with Kathy McShane, managing director of Ladies Who Launch, is offering a "Women in Transition" series of workshops.
Christine Simmons, Outback community program director, said, "We have a number of women in the community who are thinking about going back into the workplace or starting their own businesses. They have requested workshops that will help them to identify their options and to learn how to effectively use social media to help them with this journey."
The series will consist of three workshops, which will take place on March 11, 18 and 25 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Outback, 71 Main St.
The topics will be:
"Find the Work that Fits Your Life." Kathryn Sollmann, of Wilton, has been passionate about helping women blend work and life. Now a married mother of two daughters, ages 14 and 22, she empowers women at every age and stage to live their dream. Through her blog, www.9livesforwomen.com, and as a Huffington Post contributor, she helps women navigate challenges and opportunities in nine work and/or life stages: entering the workforce, building a career, in a job search, on the verge of leaving the workforce, "mega volunteering," waffling about a return to work, itching to work again, contemplating reinvention and fending off retirement. With real-life insights from coaching thousands of smart, talented women, she provides valued work/life planning, job search, reinvention and financial security advice through individual coaching and seminars.
"Dream It! Live It! Launch It!" McShane always has looked for creative ways to help women to follow their passion. She has spent a number of years in the corporate world and started a multimillion-dollar advertising and promotion agency when her first child was born. She led the only agency in the U.S. that offered job-sharing for women who wanted a career and who wanted to spend time with their family. She received an award from Bill Gates for innovation in the workplace. She now works with women to help them to discover their personal brand, claim their life mission, and identify their passions and values and to get "unstuck." She has worked with more than 350 women to help them uncover what they really want to do in life.
"Build Your Network Now." Sandra Long, who has expertise in networking and social media, draws on her more than 20 years of corporate sales and business development experience. After transitioning from the corporate world one year ago, she is now president of Post Road Consulting LLC in Westport and a blogger for Blogging4Jobs. Discover how to re-brand yourself and actively network to support your transition or transformation. Learn how to select the right social media channels for your connecting, networking and continuous learning.
