'Night of the Dragon' raises $500,000 for Family Centers

More than 325 guests were immersed in everything Far East as Family Centers celebrated its annual benefit May 31 in Greenwich.

Family Centers' "Chinatown: Night of the Dragon" benefit at the Greenwich Armory captured the essence of an authentic Chinatown street festival.

During the event's cocktail reception, guests sipped on a signature drink called "The Red Lotus" and nibbled on dumplings in between rides on the "Dragon Wagon," or roller coaster. They also listened to a Chinese string duo, a ping-pong demonstration and a strolling Confucius impersonator. Chinese Dragon Dancers led the guests into the armory for dinner, which was prepared by Saffron 59.

The guests also saw a martial arts demonstration and a performance by Chinese Lion Dancers.

Family Centers' largest fundraiser of the year raised more than $500,000 for its human service, health and education programs, which serve more than 23,500 Fairfield County residents each year.
