Elliott L. Maynes, 23, of 283 Buttery Road, New Canaan, was arrested July 15 on charges of second-degree possession of child pornography and violation of probation less than two years after he was first arrested on a child pornography charge, according to New Canaan police.

Elliott L. Maynes, 23, of 283 Buttery Road, New Canaan, was arrested July 15 on charges of second-degree possession of child pornography and violation of probation.

The arrest stems from a 2012 investigation during which technicians at P.C. Richard & Son in Norwalk contacted police after discovering child pornography while repairing Maynes' computer, according to the report. At that time, Maynes was arrested on a charge of first-degree possession of child pornography, police said.

He was placed on a five-year adult probation, the conditions of which prohibited him from accessing adult pornographic sites, sites that contain sexually explicit material and possessing such material in any storage media, police said.

On Sept. 6, 2013, adult probation office conducted an unannounced search of Mayne's computer and discovered he had accessed adult porn sites, which violated one of his conditions, the report stated. Police said the computer was seized and examined by the state police's Computer Crime and Electronic Evidence Unit, which also found images of child pornography. The adult probation office applied for an arrest warrant.

On June 19, a probation officer from Norwalk called the New Canaan Police Department about the violation and asked officials to open an investigation.

On July 15, Maynes was taken into custody and charged with second-degree possession of child pornography. He posted $25,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on July 25.

That same night, he turned himself in on the charge of violation of probation. He posted $30,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 1.
