Peter T. Bafitis, 63, of 17 King's Grant, New Canaan, was arrested April 16 on a charge of operating under the influence of alcohol.
An officer on patrol observed a vehicle driving east on Richmond Hill Road, near Grove Street, when the driver came to a complete stop on the side of the road, according to police.
The driver, Bafitis, got off the car and walked toward a building at Mead Park, police said. The officer said it appeared that the man was going to urinate behind it, according to the report. Police said Bafitis was walking slowly and stumbling.
The officer approached the man and asked him if he was going to urinate, to which Bafitis said no, according to police. After detecting the odor of alcohol, the officer conducted several field sobriety tests, which Bafitis failed, police said.
At police headquarters, Bafitis refused to take a Breathalyzer test, according to the report.
He posted $250 bond and is scheduled to appear in court April 28.
