The New Canaan YMCA is celebrating its 60th birthday and invites the community to join the celebration at the 60th Birthday Bash from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 31.
Activities for all ages will include the "Zany Zone Obstacle Course," where children, teens and adults can compete against their friends, spouses, siblings or family vs. family in a course inspired by the Y's new functional training center, The Zone. Participants will run, jump, zig, zag, pull, jump, and crawl their way through the course. A separate course for preschoolers will also be available.
Participants can kick off summer in the pool as well with family relay races and games, plus the opportunity to learn some life-saving skills in observance of Water Safety Month in May.
Coaches from the Y's competitive aquatics teams will be participants in the "Dunk our Coaches" event, in which they will be dunked in a tank.
Other activities will include a DJ dance party, arts and crafts and treats.
A special announcement will be made by the Y at 3 p.m. following the singing of "happy birthday" and cutting of the cake.
Admission is free. For information, visit www.newcanaanymca.org.
