To the Editor:
I wish to thank New Canaan’s Planning and Zoning Committee for all the time and effort they devoted to listening to residents and neighbors of Indian Waters Drive at long and sometimes arduous meetings. Through this process, they came to understand our small road, and its unique situation with Aquarion.
The desire of many neighbors is to preserve the land in its pristine, natural state, as well as to protect the quality of life on our special private road. Many of us hope to purchase the 9.98 acres of land for the New Canaan Land Trust so that all New Canaanites may enjoy it in the future. This parcel, nestled at the very end of our cul-de-sac, is a small natural park of beauty and a habitat for many birds and animals free to be there. Open space is a gift forever and it would be a lovely addition to the southwestern part of town. Planning and Zoning’s decision to deny the request of Aquarion for a special permit was a giant step forward and we are very grateful.
