We experienced larger crowds than expected and enjoyed the opportunity to share our handcrafts with our many loyal customers as well as first-time attendees. We especially appreciated the support of many of our grant recipient organizations whose members came out in large numbers to shop.
Dollar figures have not been finalized at this time, but we know already that the funds raised at the Holiday Boutique will enable us to fulfill grant requests from the numerous local nonprofit organizations that depend on us for support. Many people helped us with the Holiday Boutique and we would like to thank them for their efforts on our behalf:
Letters to the editor from Jane Nyce, executive director of Staying Put; Bob Witt, president of Getabout Inc.; Karen Nisenson, founder of Arts for Healing; and Janet Lindstrum, executive director of the New Canaan Historical Society helped publicize our event. Tom Foley from Springdale Florist and Greenhouses boosted the festivity of our event by providing lighted Christmas trees. Donations from Betty's Teas, Consider the Cook, Francos Wine Merchants, New Canaan Olive Oil and Zumbach Coffee enabled us to create a wonderful door prize gift basket.
Last but not least, we want to thank the many local merchants in town who helped us distribute Holiday Boutique postcards.
On behalf of the New Canaan Sewing Group, I want to wish you a very happy and healthy holiday season.
