The New Canaan Land Trust and the Girl Scouts of New Canaan are jointly participating in the Connecticut Trails Weekend June 7 and 8.
A guided walk of the W. Prichard Browne Wildlife Sanctuary will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 7. The 30-minute stroll through 10.5-acre New Canaan Land Trust woodlands include views of the Grupes reservoir, wetland crossings, fern meadows, majestic trees, and a large glacial erratic. A trail will be opened for public access and Girl Scouts will guide walkers and highlight interesting sights, flora and history of the sanctuary. Attendees are asked to meeting leaders Chris Schipper and Kristen O'Connor at the entrance to the sanctuary on Valley Road, across from Colonial Road.
From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, June 8, hikers will travel through the Nancy Watson-Symington Woodlands, the 47-acre property of the New Canaan Land Trust. Girl Scouts will guide walks and highlight interesting trees and fauna. The 1.66-mile trail features elevation changes with upland and lowland tree stands, a fern meadow, a small, scenic watercourse and rustic stone walls. Attendees are asked to meet leaders Chris Schipper and Kristen O'Connor at the trailhead on Wellesley Drive. Park along Wellesley Drive off Greenley Road.
