The event is for boys and girls in grades 3 to 8. Each participant will shoot 100 free throws. Participants ask their friends and family to sponsor them for each shot they make.
The boy and girl in each grade who raises the most money will win a number of different prizes. There also will be games and shooting competitions at the event for the participants.
Full Court Peace is a nonprofit organization that uses basketball as a unifier in places like Belfast, Northern Ireland; Havana, Cuba and; Ciudad Juarez, Mexico.
Recently, Evans, the founder and executive director of the organization, started a program to unite divergent groups within Fairfield County on the basketball court. The Jan. 26 fundraiser is aimed at helping youth in Connecticut.
