Farmer Minor and his pot-belly pig, Daisy, will read and entertain children and their parents Saturday, Feb. 1, as part of the third annual "Take your Child to the Library Day."

New Canaan Library joins its counterparts across Connecticut in celebrating the third annual "Take your Child to the Library Day" Saturday, Feb. 1.

Children and their parents are invited for "Farmer Minor & Daisy Pig, the Pot Belly Pig" at 10 a.m. in the Curtis Gallery. Farmer Minor will bring many of Daisy's favorite pig books.

While sitting in his rocking chair, he will read one of them to the children and his real pot-bellied pig, Daisy. Farmer Minor will share Daisy noises, give Daisy a treat, and talk about Daisy's pampered porcine life and how she became famous. In addition to Daisy, Farmer Minor will also bring his two little pug dogs. At the end of the program, all will be able to pet Daisy and take photos.

Daisy has presented library and school programs in 48 states and has done national tours for more than 14 years. She became the first pig ever invited inside the U.S. Capitol while on her first national tour. She was featured in newspapers and TV across the United States and filmed for Belgian National TV,

Following the program children will be invited to create a special piggy craft in the Children's Program Room. Piggy books will be available for checkout, too.
