Babcock specializes in long-term strategic planning, entrepreneurship, boards and governance to prepare families for future generations. He is the chairman and CEO of AM Private Enterprises Inc., a special registered investment adviser since 1994, and the successor to two firms that he founded in New Canaan more than 20 years ago. One firm worked exclusively helping family members start new ventures and invest directly in other ventures. Simultaneously, the other firm focused on developing comprehensive, long-term strategies and their implementation for major public, private and family-controlled corporations helping them to expand beyond their core industries, businesses, and product lines.
Babcock is a Family Firm Institute fellow and a National Association of Corporate Directors Governance fellow. He is on the adjunct faculty of the Zicklin School of Business, Baruch College and City University of New York, where he teaches courses on boards, governance and leadership with entrepreneurial and family firms, and family business management. He serves on several boards, including the International Association of Attorneys for Family-Held Enterprises and the Lawrence N. Field Center for Entrepreneurship.
