The First Presbyterian Church in New Canaan will host an eight-week series of adult education classes on Wednesday from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. beginning Feb. 12.
Entitled "Gospel Beginnings and Endings," the classes will be taught by the Rev. Mary Marple Thies, a retired Presbyterian minister.
Over the weeks, Thies will consider the beginnings and endings of the four gospels to discover these and visit afresh the most important story of all as told by four storytellers.
Thies began her ministry as a chaplain at Children's Village, a residential treatment center for emotionally disturbed boys in Dobbs Ferry, N.Y., and went on to serve congregations in Mount Vernon, N.Y., and New Haven before coming to Stamford to serve as co-pastor of First Presbyterian Church. Her formal education was at Hastings College, State University of California, Princeton Theological Seminary and Yale Divinity School.
The classes are free. A buffet-style dinner is served at 5:30 p.m. and costs $10 per person. Dinner reservations are requested and can be made by calling 203-966-0002.
