Over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, troopers made 43 arrests for driving while under the influence, according to the State Police.
Troopers patrolled all roads and highways across Connecticut and focused on drunken-driving violations and targeted aggressive drivers. Sobriety checkpoints and targeted patrols were in place over the entire weekend.
The period of time covers midnight Nov. 27 to midnight Dec. 1.
In addition to the DUIs, the troopers made:
1,134 speeding arrests
170 seat-belt violation arrests
2,548 for other hazardous moving violations, which include unsafe lane change, follow too close, cell phone use, fail to signal
The troopers also investigated 562 accidents, one of which included a fatality and 92 had injuries.
The total number of calls for service was 10,426.
In 2012 over the same period of time, the troopers made 1,611 arrests for speeding, 85 for seat-belt violations, 2,745 for hazardous moving and 62 for DUI. They investigated 410 accidents, two of which had fatalities and 59 with injuries.
